The Brazos – by Louise

It runs 1210 miles from New Mexico to the Gulf. 640 miles of it is in Palo Pinto County. The great flood in 1913 destroyed--to the Gulf.

35 named bends, in Palo Pinto County.

It is the biggest between the Rio Grand and the Red River.

Palo Pinto, the county is 30 miles across, and it has 1025 miles of river.

1863 and 1864, grasshoppers and drouth and the Brazos did not run.

Possum Kingdom Lake is 145ft, at the dam.

The railroad coming from Fort Worth, reached the river in1882.

For years it had run north to Chicago.
