George Everet Glover– by Louise
My cousin, George Everet Glover, was a preacher in Mineral Wells. Sometimes he worked part time at the funeral home. He was so nice looking, tall and dignified. His Mother was Daddy’s tall sister, my Aunt Fannie. She died when he and I were two. Aunt Hettie was the oldest; and the shortest.
They seemed to hire him every time that there was a deteriorated body to be taken to Fort Worth. He said that there was no 'body bag' or casket that could be sealed good enough to keep that smell inside it. He said that he could not drive fast enough; with all the windows open; to get away from that smell.
When I hear the 'ding' of a big truck or tractor backing up, I remember that Thel's brother, Truman told about one time when he was working on 'road construction'.
A big truck driver backed over his own brother and killed him. Truman said that was the awfulest thing that he ever saw. Not long after that; all big trucks and tractors have a loud reminder sound when they back up.
